We had some special visitors for the 4th of July! Daniel, Shan, and Owen drove in from Chicago on Friday and joined us for the 4th of July activities in Upper Arlington. 4th of July here is a little crazy. People go all out having parties and celebrations that start at 9am with the parade and don't end until the final firework around 10:30pm. People set up their chairs for the parade days in advance to make sure they have a spot. Luckily we just walked from our house and stood under a tree to keep the babies in the shade. We couldn't get up to the curb but I don't think Claire or the babies cared and we could see just fine. We had a cookout and ended the evening with poppers, glow sticks, and viewing the fireworks from our driveway but the camera was not out at that point. The babies woke up for the fireworks and actually got to see some of them before falling back to sleep. So glad we don't have to leave our house to see the show! Makes the day a lot easier with little ones. It was hard to get pictures with everyone looking of course but here are a few fun ones from the weekend.
watching the parade...
Madeline was much more interested in Claire's hair of course.
Blake was actually in the parade with a few kids from his T-Ball team.
He got to ride on a golf cart which was a big thrill for him!
Claire and Madeline had matching 4th of July dresses!
Sisters!
We spent some time at the park. Owen and Madeline could swing side by side which was cute!
Claire of course wanted to try out the baby swings too...haha
We loved watching the babies play together. They seemed to really like each other or at least were very interested in what the other one was doing. Owen is 4 months older so he is much more mobile but they did have moments where they would sit together or look at the same toys together. It will be fun to see these two grow up and interact more as they get older.
While the kids and dads were at the store. Shan and I were with the babies and they did this. We think they were kind of trying to kiss each other but didn't know quite what was happening. It was so funny! I could have watched these two interact all day!
Can't wait to see you all again in a few weeks!
