Blake's First Day of Kindergarten!

Today was a big day.  First day of Kindergarten for our little man.  He was so excited and ready to go! He set his Lego Batman alarm clock last night for 6:45am and as soon as it went off he ran into our room and said "Today is my first day of Kindergarten!".  I am glad he was ready because I wasn't sure that I was!  He has spent the past few days looking at all his supplies and trying on his new backpack (ninja turtles of course) and even picked out what he wanted to wear for the big day.  I thought he should wear a "nice" shirt for his first day but when I asked him he chose this Lego shirt.  I decided to let it go and let him decide what he was most comfortable in.  It probably was a nice conversation starter while meeting a bunch of new kids.  I wanted to take a lot of pictures this morning but he only let me take a few at the house.  He didn't want any outside of school so I had to let that go as well.

Ben actually had a little free time this morning so he was able to come with us for the big day!
So glad he was there because I was trying my best to hold it together but eventually let some tears out.
I made it all the way there and into the classroom fine but as soon as he hung up his backpack and gave us a hug the emotions started to come out.  Luckily we got out of the room without him noticing me getting a little teary.

I picked him up after school and he ran right over and gave me a hug.  I asked if he had fun and he said yes!  I followed that up with what did you do?  To which he told me it was a secret and he could only tell daddy.  What?  Nothing?  No details for mom?  At least he allowed me to take some pictures at school with the Tremont Lion.

A little later he opened up about what he did but I had to guess.  I think there was some play doh involved and some writing and playing outside of course.  He also revealed that he had a pretzel rod for a snack and that he made a new friend but couldn't remember his name.  Sounds like a good day!
Oh and he also told me he wasn't worried about me at all when he was at school...haha.

To celebrate the first day we went out for donuts after school.  This is the best smile I could get out of him.  Claire chose a minion cookie instead of a donut, she was so happy to see her big brother again!

Yum!

So proud of this guy!  I know he will have a great year in Kindergarten!
Can't wait to see him go on this journey and experience all kinds of new things this year!
Hopefully mom will do better on the second day and not cry!
