Home Sweet Home

On December 30th we closed on our new home in Columbus!
Actually it is a 1960's home but new to us!  Things have been a bit crazy since we weren't planning on buying a house until the spring but we found a house that we liked in a great location so we decided there was no reason to wait for spring to come.  This is a pic from the day after the closing when the kids got to go visit the new house.

They wanted to move in that day, Claire even insisted on bringing her play suitcase.

We had to do a few things before moving in so I spent a lot of time at the house with the kids and no furniture.  Don't worry, Claire brought everything we needed...play food, a few random toys, and chapstick.

Blake set up in his corner of the room with Legos and ninja turtles.

It has been a long couple of weeks but we moved in January 20th.  Still a lot to unpack and get settled but we are all enjoying living in a house again.  The only major hiccup so far is the our queen box springs don't fit up the stairs so we are sleeping on a mattress on the floor.  Hopefully we will find a solution to that soon.  Besides that we are doing fine.  I think 6 months in an apartment with two kids and a dog is enough for us!  Otis is very happy to have a yard again!

In the middle of all the moving madness Blake celebrated his half birthday at school!  Since he has a summer birthday the school told us he could celebrate turning 4-1/2.  I got to go to his class with Claire and my mom and see what happens during the birthday celebrations at Montessori.

First they had to set up the ellipse for the earth to go around and the candle representing the sun.  Blake held the earth and walked around the circle as the kids sang "the earth goes around the sun sha la la, the earth goes around the sun.  the earth goes around the sun sha la la, and Blake turns one..."

I had to bring a picture of Blake at each year of his life to show the class.
It was so cute, he was really proud to share his special day with us and his class.

After the special song they did sing the Happy Birthday song, and then it was time for treats!

Chocolate chip bars were a hit!

Grandma Murray and Blake on his special day.
Thanks Grandma and Grandpa Murray for helping us with the big move!
Looking forward to many more visits from family and friends!
( you may want to wait a few weeks or so unless you enjoy sleeping on a mattress on the floor!)
